Have you ever thought that you're wasting your PSHS education if you become a doctor? The PSHS system, and DOST, aims to develop the Research & Development sector in the Philippines, and unless you use your medical training for research, which I highly doubt, you're wasting the taxes used on your education.
First of all, if you are a taxpayer, thank you very much. You have every right to ask me this question. Now here is my reply:
I would go into research, so you won’t have to doubt that. It’s not unknown to me that Pisay banned their students from being doctors before. It is also not unknown to me the reason why they did that. I know the purpose of my school, having experienced and being the product of two consecutive years of rigorous Research courses [the result of which, for my part, is a miniature electrostatic precipitator device which cleans the air released from automobiles.] I plan to study and specialize in neurology, which I believe is the most unexplored field in medicine thus far, the field which will greatly benefit from researcher doctors like us, which our school [and I assume you citizens of this country] aims to create.
But suppose I do practice my career for free? Suppose I open up a free clinic where every underserved could go and be cured? How would that, in any way, waste you money ma’am/sir? I know it sounds idealistic and cliche, but really that’s how I see my future to be. A researcher and a doctor working to make this country a safer, healthier place.:)
Yes, Pisay is a Science high school. And we understand that research is and forever will be its highest priority. Lucky are those who went to this school and found that they click right into the system, graduating with researches that boggle even the toughest YMSAT and Intel judges. But we cannot deny [although we fully understand that we do not really have this luxury. And you’re not paying for us to have this luxury.] that it is first and foremost a high school, above anything else. Students lose themselves within its walls and find that they have something else better to offer this world. Another branch of math, another branch of science, that which is focused on direct care and help towards the Filipino people. Some even find themselves, ironically, better in leagues this school was not envisioned for: arts, humanities, and leadership, leagues which are not really far from what this country actually needs right now.
Yes, not all those who go to Pisay pursue science, and yes we understand that it is completely disappointing on your part. But know this. Pisay is the breeding ground of Patriots. Students who go there change from indifferent citizens to servants who actually care. Every aspect, every lesson, every, environment, every teaching within that school is geared towards only one thing: Patriotism, so that when we leave Pisay, we students only have one thing in mind, to serve this country and give back the best way we can. And if research is not the best way we could, then research simply won’t do. We will find a way, our best way of serving and giving back and making sure, ma’am/sir, that your money is not wasted on our education. It won’t always be what you expect, but I assure you, it will be what you need right now.
I have found my way of giving back. I will become a doctor and serve you. I hope one day, I get the honor of saving your life. As for our batch, we have the researchers capable of what you’re looking for. They are really good and I hope you’d be seeing their works in the near future. We may not all be researchers, but I assure you one thing, we are all smart and well trained citizens of this country. 225 visionaries, idealists, and leaders at your service, in the near future. Do not worry. In our eyes, the future is still bright. And again, thank you for the education which makes this future possible.:)
And oh. I am from Malolos, Bulacan. I am an SK Kagawad and I teach young kids here in barangay basic science and math concepts like evolution, algebra, and stoichiometry as part of our regular tutorial and batch classes for the poor. Of course in a way that they would fully understand. It is also part of our project to get smart kids from poor families and train them for the NCE. So that they can also receive the advanced Pisay education you are paying for.:)

016. Isa akong iskolar ng bayan.
onew-dubu:
I study at Philippine Science High School which means I am a scholar of our nation. And I promise that once I finish my studies, I’ll do everything I can to give back to my fellow Filipinos, the people who paid for my education.
Amen.
